Starting this friday, the Indie/Perth (Australia) will gather cinema bucaneers from "down under" and other big screen adventurers for one of the most celebrated festivals in the whole pacific area. Highly antecipated premieres, like Sean Thorpe's "Luke, I'm Your Father" (containing the footage of his real police chase through several American states) and Laura Foxer's autobiographical "All My Boyfriends End Up In Vegas", among others, will take place in Perth's Central Theatre this week.

" Dear friends:
As I start to write you this letter, I am happy to inform you that I'm alive and healthy in a Hotel, near a river, in a street which name i can't pronounce. Everything started earlier this day at my castle. The sun had not yet rose and the air was cold as snow. A man in his fourties picked me up in his dark blue Volks-brand wagon and took me to a place in the valley where they searched and metal-detected me. Following this, they transported me together with other helpless people into a huge object, which, on the cause of it's peculiarities, i will from now on refer to as "huge-winged-elephant".
Shortly after, I felt my body slightly pressed into my seat. Questioning myself about what was happening, I peeked through a small opening in the animal's skin and I noticed that we were hovering above the clowds. I was trying to understand this strange phenomena when, heading my way, coming out from god-knows-where, a beautiful, golden haired princess, wearing a majestic dress where you could read "Lufthansa", offered me food wrapped inside silver sheets. It was too late when I realized i had been victim of poisoning! My intestine was starting to dance when all of a sudden, the animal started to speak in a foreign language. I was frightened and wished to disapear. I closed my eyes, and as if my thoughts were sent to God, I felt the animal's landing on steady soil. I got out. Imagine, my friends, the horror which met my eyes: I was not in the same place! Are you confused? Let me explain: What seemed to have happened was that, when the animal lifted itself above the clowds (with me inside) the land moved a reasonable distance away.
Doing my initial reconaiscence I sighted an immense fortress. Signs all over indicated I was in Lord Frankfurt's lands..."

Finally, the long awaited remix album for the european Liars' experience, is available for our delight, humble mortals. Producers from all over queued for an interview chance with the New York labeling-proof-band, only finding their efforts to be vain. The trio knew exactly what they wanted, not only regarding the actual musical outcome, but as for the visual concept around this piece as well. Once again, the portuguese graphic artist José Cardoso (check his previous works here and here ) proved himself to be at the spotlights in what comes to today's cutting edge visual creation. It seems that the reasons to buy this album take shape in terms of quality and quantity. Thumbs up!

After a well deserved vacations period, NoMatchFound is back on track.
And what better way to start than displaying some documentation about one of the most important events that took place during the final days of 2006: José Cardoso's exhibition at Chocolate Gallery in Portugal.
Although I couldn't be there myself due to a previously scheduled conference in Toronto, a little bird told me it was an outrageous success. In fact, almost every piece displayed there was bought during the vernisage, so if you are interested in making an acquisition you won't regret, you better hurry. Congratulations Mr. Cardoso.

Sean Thorpe is still running from the authorities after the incident in San Francisco (see http://nomatchfound.blogspot.com/2006/11/imperial-pic-nic.html for further details).
The Dallas Police Department just made public the recovery of what is proven to be a Sean Thorpe's drawing and fingerprints at a motel in the outskirts of this city. The Sheriff also confirmed that a number of patrols is on alert throughout the whole state of Texas, looking for a man matching the description kindly provided by the San Francisco Police Department.

Due to the hype caused by our previous publication on Portuguese Illustration, the board of directors decided that the official Damien Matchstein portrait would be made by Rafael Gonçalves.
The prototype is displayed in the pictures above.
I would simply like to add that I am outraged with the systematic sabotage that my personal image is being victim of during more than half a decade now. It is so unfair.

Controversy srtikes the San Francisco's ART!ART!ART! art gallery last weekend when George Lucas's and Lego Company's lawyers entered the above mentioned gallery, escorted by police officers, and confiscated the Sean Thorpe's video installation piece "Imperial Pic-Nic". The 15 minute long animated film shows Lego Star Wars characters (Darth Vader and clone troopers, to be more precise) in a peaceful turistic pic-nic trip. "I've been applying to work at Lucas Entertainement for 10 years now, and i sent 234 letters to George Lucas during this time... I never got any answer." says Sean Thorpe in an exclusive phonecall interview for our magazine. The artist is now on the loose but he's wanted by the authorities of several states of USA, on the charge of 1st degree copyright infraction.

When you thought that good footballers and fado singers were all that Portugal had to offer, you were wrong!
As you can see in the picture above, portuguese illustrator Rafael Gonçalves in his participation in the literature magazine "Aguas Furtadas", dwells into the relativelly unexplored area of papercut-3D-graphic language.

Due to third party demands, I was taken to post a portrait of myself.
Giving a face, and therefore, humanizing the project.
This pencil drawing on paper was made during the Saint Niklaas Bienal in Belgium, 2000,
and it would have resembled me if the norwegian artist Bernt Hildr (the author)
had looked straight at me at least once.

After the worldwide success of the NoMatchFound Art Magazine, it's board of directors green-lighted this initiative which has the intent of spreading our publications throughout the imense range of cyberspace.
My name is Damien Matchstein, and I will be coordinating this project.
